I have a mighty need!
Do I smell a new project? Hmm...

Self Portrait

After several attempts and experiments with different mediums, I finally finished my self portrait! It's done in soft pastels and paints sticks.

Skull Illusion final

.....and here's the completed skull illusion! Can you see the skull?

The making of "Hero"

3rd grade art

Lookie what I found! It's a fish made out of clay (real earth clay too) that I made in third grade. It was anted with water colors and if you look closely you can see one of the fins is broken from when I dropped it.

Top ten best CD covers

10.

I really like this cover because it reminds me of a child's room. You know. If a child's room had a real sheep in it

9.

Standing on a ladder on top of a lake?! That's awesome

8.

This one is one of my favorites because it has a sort of nostalgic feeling to it... like a memory forgotten.

7.

This one's great, I mean who doesn't love blurred lights in the city?

6.

More Jefferson Airplane! This has everything i love about them, 60's art Grace Slick and of course White Rabbit

5.
Chicago.... they were amazing. Despite the simple design I really like this one because of the suburban home feeling it has to it

4.

Ok, so this isn't my favorite Beatle's cover, but it's definitely the best one in my opinion. A group of weird people posing for a picture... what could go wrong?

3.

2.
I also like this one for it's simplicity. Something about the red on black and white just goes with the words.

I love Mika's music, and his CD covers are awesome as well. This one's my favorite because of the colors.. and all the fun images inside

1.
This is my favorite album of all time. I may not be a huge Coldplay fan, but this album really calls to me. Maybe it's the colors. Maybe it's the title ( myloxyloto? my loxyloto?) but whatever it is I dig it. A lot.

A very Mexican trip

Beach! Sun! and tacos! All the things I enjoyed on a trip to Mexico.

Photo
The cow demands you buy something! Our first stop was at a small taco place in the city of Hermomsillo. But don't worry, despite the scary cow on the menu the people were nice and the food was good. Even my sister was happy to see her food.

Photo

Later we passed by a small fishing town called Guaymas.
Photo

But more of that later...
Photo
Finally! After a 9 hour trip in the car we reach our destination, Navojoa, Sonora
Photo
On the evening of our arrival we went to my great granny's birthday party. She turned 91! Don't be fooled by her age,, she still has some fight left in her (in this picture she's eating a strawberry she swiped off her cake)
Photo

Don't think that her party was dull because she's old! This is my crazy aunt who was possibly drunk (or not). She was in full clown costume dancing to some cumbias.
Photo
The beach! The next day we drove down to Huatabampito and were greeted by the sight of these awesome waves.
Photo
After taking a quick dip my grandma made us some delicious tortas.
Photo
And look! I made a sand sculpture in the likeness of a clam shell (this was moments before my grandma stepped on it)
Photo
All too soon the sun began to set and it was time for us to leave.
Photo
Although not before a crab decided to try and make a meal out of us!
Photo
That sneaky crab tried to take a bite outta my foot!
Photo
On our way back to the U.S we stopped by in Guaymas (remember I mentioned it earlier?) and had some food at this little restaurant called "La Pasadita". And boy was the food good! They had mostly sea food, but also some carne asada and chicken, and every bit we tried was fabulous!
Photo
Our last stop in Mexico was at a Dairy Queen of all places. But this Dairy Queen was awesome, they had blizzards with just about any type of cookie you wanted. And, true to their motto, our blizzards were served upside down! Cool!

Drawing of the week

Photo

This week I decided to try out nail polish as a medium. I dripped different colored nail polish onto the paper in the shape of the character for love, then painted over it with black crackle nail polish. I call it "Love & Nail Polish"

A joke for the music geeks...

"When Beethoven passed away, he was buried in a churchyard.

A couple days later, the town drunk was walking through the cemetery and heard some strange noise coming from the area where Beethoven was buried. Terrified, the drunk ran and got the priest to come and listen to it. The priest bent close to the grave and heard some faint, unrecognizable music coming from the grave. Frightened, the priest ran and got the town magistrate. When the magistrate arrived, he bent his ear to the grave, listened for a moment, and said, "Ah, yes, that's Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, being played backwards." He listened a while longer, and said, "There's the Eighth Symphony, and it's backwards, too. Most puzzling." So the magistrate kept listening; "There's the Seventh... the Sixth... the Fifth..." Suddenly the realization of what was happening dawned on the magistrate; he stood up and announced to the crowd that had gathered in the cemetery, "My fellow citizens, there's nothing to worry about. It's just Beethoven decomposing."

portfolio cover

How can we engage responsibly with the complex systems of our world?

For that Monday feeling...

When you wake up in the morning and realize it's Monday and you feel like.....

and like this...

And you go walking around all day like this....

And at the end of the day you're like

I guess I'll have to do it all over again tomorrow
